Khadija Patel

Khadija peddles words on street corners, in polite company she's known as a journalist. Words are her only defence against impending doom, old age and iniquity - spurring her interest in what language tells us about where we are from, what we are doing and where we are headed. Don't mind the headscarf, she don't need no liberation.

Khadija Patel works as a journalist and columnist for South Africa’s hottest e-publications including; Thought Leader, The Daily Maverick and its swanky tablet-computer version, iMaverick. Khadija established Makutano Publications, intent on facilitating dialogue between Africans. She wanted ordinary Africans to have more opportunities to speak to each other about their lives and their world. She wanted to create a space to share experiences and forge a sense of Africanness.
